My father died under strange circumstances in Thailand

My father died under strange circumstances in Thailand a little more than a month ago. Officially, it was a natural death in a hospital. But nothing about how it happened or how it was handled feels right. He’s been in Thailand for decades. He had a second family in Thailand becoming a single dad of the daughter (today she is in her mid 20s). When she told me he had died I decided to fly to Thailand bjt really didn’t know what I was walking into and have literally slept with a knife by my bedside for the past week. After talks with the hospital I realized I was not informed when he was moved to palliative care where he ended up spending his last days alone. I was not informed when had take him off life support such as antibiotics two days prior. That decision was apparently made by the younger half-sister who’s also a nursing student, and has been uncaring towards my father through the entire process to say the least more focused on Thai boy bands and friends from day 1. She’s the same daughter that left my father in palliative care dying alone when she was the one that placed him there, knowing he only had 2-3 days to live. She lied about the whole timeline afterwards. Saying she didn’t know he would die when it’s clearly documented she did and agreed to it as well as promising to show up. My suspicion is that he had more chances to life if they hadn’t stopped treatment. Before comfort care he was offered life saving treatment as well. When I arrived to the city there was also a woman, an “aunt” and her two friends, organizing logistics, following me, overly patting me, I asked her simple questions especially about money and got what I later learnt were lies. She claimed to be the friend of my father while never wanting to talk about him. Instead she acted as an informant to the daughter and her mother (my father’s ex). She and her friends however left when I at one point mentioned the police. I’ve talked to the temple and they (ex, daughter and “aunt”) all lied about the money we sent for the temple. Their plan was for him to be burned at a court yard which they obviously didn’t tell me. They lied and said he can’t be cremated at a normal temple because he’s not a Thai national and pocketed almost all of the money. I’ve also been getting angry messages from my father’s ex and suspect she was as involved as the daughter is too young to override doctors like that on her own or organize fake aunties if that was the case. I just returned home and am planning to file a police report next week concerning fraud and misrepresentation as the daughter lied about being the only daughter in order to make that decision on her own - this is what I have documented. I’ve asked the hospital and morgue to hold his body. On a side note apparently the herbal medicine the girl gave my father gave him sepsis the first time around. This is also documented during earlier hospital visits. I don’t even know what I’m asking: Did the daughter and his ex end my dad’s life and for what? And why does everyone seem to be involved? Edit: I’m not a “white girl”, I’ve been getting alot of comments alluding to for reasons I don’t understand. I guess it’s the forum. Also people saying he chose this life - would you say the same thing about a woman? Don't you think a man deserves justice? Edit 2: The “knife” (a Thai amulet) is just me being scared alone at night in a border city in northern Thailand after realizing people are lying to me about my father’s death. Leer más
