I’m an American high school student looking into international college programs in Thailand

Hi! My sister and her husband are moving to Thailand next year and she wants me to come with her. At first I was not sure, but then I started looking into tuition prices in Thailand and I was amazed. Everything I am seeing when researching is coming back as $3000-$5000 USD per year as an international student. Now I feel financially obligated to do this, $5000, plus fees versus the average $20,000-$50,000+ in America is insane to me. So I guess my question is: are these prices in Thailand accurate and what else do I need to know about this and Thailand in general before moving forward? I have looked into student visas with that process, as well as watching videos about living there as an expat and pros/cons.
